The Benefits of Selecting Dwight Smith Photography for your Wedding:

Style - We believe in a balanced mix of the traditional formal style along with the new popular "photo-journalistic" method of unposed elegance. For the formals we quickly and comfortably have you pose to look your best, watching for all the details! The rest of the time (especially when you get to the reception) we switch to the more candid "not looking at the camera" approach. Dwight doesn’t want to take you away from your guests. He will use a telephoto lens to capture the priceless unposed expressions – a flower girl napping on a chair, people engaged in animated conversation, dancing, all those fun events and details!

Black and White Images - The timeless look!  From the same image we can print a true b&w, that warm-toned sepia look, or color photograph. We’re also experienced in the new "artsy" infrared b&w style.

Dependable - In 20 years of photographing weddings in Phoenix, Dwight has never missed or been late to a wedding. In 1994 he helped form the "Pro Pack Professional Photographer’s Guild", an organization of fifteen of the valley’s finest photographers. In the unlikely event of an emergency, we have a listing of each other’s schedules, as well as have their studio, home, and mobile phone numbers.

Personality - Dwight has a very calming effect on the day of the wedding. His easy-going nature provides for natural expressions – and he likes to make people feel comfortable and have fun!

Efficiency & Complete Coverage - The formal poses can be completed in thirty minutes if needed - a must for some of the churches in town! We also don’t limit the amount of film used at a wedding -during most six-hour packages Dwight often takes between 300 and 1000 images.

Use of an Assistant (most weddings) - Dwight’s assistant will help with setting up the lights for the formals, gathering people for the group photos, adjusting the bride’s train, fixing a crooked tie, and watching for all the details.

Less Eyeglass Glare and Brighter Backgrounds - We are one of the few that use "studio lighting" for the formals. With the use of an assistant, it really doesn’t take any longer to set up, and makes a dramatic difference. At the reception a second light is used for the first dance, providing a romantic silhouette. Then, for the overall images of the dancing, it is inconspicuously adjusted to illuminate the whole crowd and provides a spectacular dimension to your photographs!

Award-Winning - In December 2005 Dwight was awarded "Wedding Album Photographer of the Year" in the master category.  Dwight also received "Wedding Album Photographer of the Year" by the Arizona Professional Photographer's Association.  In 2002 Dwight received the distinguished PPA degree of "Photographic Craftsman".  Dwight also received the "Master of Photography" certification at the Professional Photographer's of America national convention in Atlanta, July 1999.  He maintains a CPP (Certified Professional Photographer) rating by the PPA, and has several awards, including "Best of Show" APPA, "Photographer of the Year" PPPA, "Wedding Print Photographer of the Year", and "Top Five" award for several years in the PPPA, and Pro Pack "Wedding Photographer of the Year". He is active in all of the photography associations, and is a leader with regards to the latest trends in photography.
